You say that you came through a teleport...
As far as I can gather,  the best Idea would be for you to go back to
where you jumped into the teleport, then go the normal route.  If you
follow the natural path, the you eventually get the mark of darkmoon
when you press a pedestal on the beholder level.  You are then teleported
back to one one the levels of the temple and you can get through the
door with the mark,k, but if you only started recently then you have a long
wait.  Especially if you haven't reached the margoyl(?) level yet.
