What is the GK patch supposed to fix? (Newbie)

I just recently bought a cd-rom (563b doublespin by matsushita) and got
Gabe with it. I played Gabe for a while and was very impressed with the
plot and the gameplay wasn't bad either (a little slow, but that is more my
computers fault than anything [386sx-25]). I was playing on the tiny install
and having no problem, but then I freed up some disk space and did the full
install to try to cut down on the choppiness of the sound. The problem I have
developed it that when I try to restore a game (doesn't matter where I am or
what sound levels I have working) I always get a fatal error message and kicked
out of the game. I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems and
if so, has anyone thought of a solution or knows whether this supposed patch
will fix it. (BTW, I did discover that the saved games from the tiny install
won't work when I upgraded to the full install so I deleted them and started
over, so that isn't the problem. I have now started this game over three times
trying to "fix" certain things and now I am looking at the game from a
different angle. Also my room-mate (who kept taking the disk w/o asking) seems
to be having very few problems on his machine (486sx-25 mitsoumi single spin
drive) so I don't think that it is the disk itself.)

If anyone out there can think of a solution or knows whether or not
the patch will work to fix my problem, please alert me with utmost haste as I
want to be able to return it if I have to.

Thanks in advance for any help. And sorry about the length, I didn't
know I was going to be so long winded.

	2good.
PS please reply via e-mail to save bandwidth and time (as I rarely check this
group, or news at all for that matter).
		THANKS AGAIN!!
