This is Conservative America (TheSenate)

Well just spent an hour or two watching Cspan's live coverage of
video game violence and a conference to discuss what to do about it.
And I must say, it would appear that things might be looking a little
bleak. Lets just say they praised nintendos censoring
policy and didnt have much faith in the rating policy of sega.

Ahh, and I thought the days of banning stuff was over....

Thank your stars DOOM comes out tommorow, another month
or two and who knows what the game would be like.....

So, would anyone like to volunteer some names and addresses of Senatorz
we can write to? Or call, since I'm local?

You can find the following files via via ftp in directory /Gov/US-Gov or
via www at gopher://wiretap.spies.com/11/Gov/US-Gov. If you're still
using gopher, you should delete it and get xmosaic from ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu.

If you'll look to see who is in the forefront of this movement, I
don't think you'll see too many conservatives. Most of them are liberal
Democrats (and a few liberal Republicans). I definately would call this a
LIBERAL movement, not a conservative one!

True. If it was a conservative movement, these games would be reclassified
as vital to government security, and would only be used as part of a CIA
plot to overthrow South American regimes not supportive of U.S. big business.

How is this conservative America? It is the liberals in congress that are
doing this.

Absolutely. At least two of our government's three branches are Democrat
controlled and the third is at best split. "Labeling Madness" started 7
or so years ago with the PMRC and Tipper Gore who is now...you guessed it...the
second lady (is that the correct term). Democrats and the left are doing this,
and it is not to "protect our children" but to gain a higher level of control
over yet another industry.

Agreed. I'm not in the US, I'm not American and I couldn't give a flying
fuck about American politics. I came here to read about games on computers,
not political games.
