I bought kq2, 3 and 6cd for my daughter for x-mas. Three uses key disk copy protection and will not work under os/2 or my regular dos sessions. It will however work if I boot from a clean floppy. Has anybody got a crack and or a suggestion as to how to fix the problem? I assume it is some device driver or hardware thing that is causing the problem. thanks -- dick sidbury SUN : sid...@cs.uofs.edu computing sciences dept. Dick - As a general rule, the best place I have found to get game cracks is on an ftp site named ftp.uwp.edu There is a directory there that is full of cracks, but I don't know if kq3 is one of them. The directory is /pub/msdos/games/romulus/cracks You might also look in this directory for a program caller "neverlock". It removes copy protection from several different games. It has a section called "classics" or something like that that unprotects hundreds of older games. I don't know what the file name for this program would be, but it's probably something like "nev..., nvl...., nlock..." or something along those lines. kq3 is old enough to be a good candidate for their classic section. Key disk copy protection is quite old. I remember a program from years ago named "nokey" that was a TSR that would defeat this type of protection. You loaded nokey before playing the game. I haven't seen it for years and wouldn't know where to tell you to find it. I have no idea if it would even work under your OS/2 situation. Good Luck, Dave Haertig hae...@att.com

S. - If you're running smartdrive, disable it for your floppy drives as something about it messes up the original disk copy protection scheme. Change the smartdrive line in your autoexec.bat to read c:\dos\smartdrive -a -b. This will disable smartdrive for the a: and b: drives, hopefully allowing you to get the copy protection to work.
