In chapter six - Betrayal (Find the Book of Macros!), Gorath and Owyn are
in the subterranean ancient ruins of Elvandar. A moredhel lock I can't
figure out - the puzzle: "Where once there were three,
Now only are two,
Ancient kin ours,
Whom we sent to their doom."
What is the answer?

I just bought this game on a friends recommendation, but haven't started playing it. Do you really need to read the author's books in order to play the game, or is this answer (and any other required clues) available with the game materials alone? -- -- Greg Stewart vnet:gstewart@rchland -- AS/400 Posix internet: gste...@rchland.vnet.ibm.com -- IBM Rochester phone: (507) 253-7428 tie: 8-553-7428

The game time frame is set between two of the books. The books are GREAT and give you a background for the game...and a few comments(non-essential) made by characters during the game will only have meaning if you read the books. But by NO MEANS do you have to read the books to play the game...but it did give a new perspective on the game when I read them. I got bogged down in chapter 3 and wanted a change of pace so I checked the books out of the library and finished all four in 4 weeks (which is really quick for me). When I reentered the game...everything just had a different flavor...like I was reading a sequel to the novels. Either way the game is great! Enjoy. EJ

Earlier in the dungeon, if you had read the diary by a certain abbot, your characters will pop up and comment on the situation. In the diary is the answer to the Moredhel box, which hopefully you were smart enough to write down when you read it the first time. It is not coincidence that that Moredhel box is the only one that is 10 characters long, having 8 possible letters in each combination.
