I just finished episode 1 of Game of Thrones with mixed feelings.

First the good, the artwork is amazing as well as the story, Telltale
got the feeling from the books and the movies exactly right.

The bad, the game is a mixture of QTEs (fortunately only a few of them)
and dialog branches.

The ugly. Telltale seems to have abandoned adventure games entirely in
favor of interactive movies, there literally are no puzzles anymore. The
game plays like this. Dialog answer under time pressure another dialog
answer under time pressure scripted movie sequence, QTE dialog another
timed answer, rinse and repeat. Gone are the puzzles. There are exactly
zero of them in episode 1. I personally think while TTG has become
lighter on puzzles over the years they nailed it perfectly right with
Walking Dead Episode 1, since then it has gone downhill. But (ok I have
not played Episode 2 and Wolf among us) this is a new low at least for
me who loves puzzles in adventure games.

So to sum it up, is it good enough that I will play the game through.
Probably yes since I paid for it and i love the story. Will I buy
another TT game again for the forseeable future. Probably not unless
they change their ways and stop producing purely interactive movies.

Ok Just finished part 3 (another 2 hours roughly), the story again is
very good, however the game again is lacking, at least there is a little
bit of a game underneath the interactive movie, with two qte sequences
and two timed search sequences. Again no puzzles.
Lets sum it up, if I had the choice between Dreamfall Chapters and this
game I would prefer Dreamfall Chapters for being a game, and a very good
one.
