Installing Obsidian

I tried to install my copy of Obsidian on Windows 7 32bit home version.
The program will install but will not run.
When I try to run it informs me it cannot run because it cannot find the
mTropolis player.
It also needs Quicktime version 2.1.2.59 or newer.
I have Quicktime 7.7.5 installed so that indicates other problems to me.

During the installation process of Obsidian setup will try and install Quicktime
2.1.2.
However , the program has problems and stops.
I get a message to check my 'files' statement/command, perhaps increasing it.
I remember that statement from way back in the DOS days along with a few others.
The statement is found in the Config.sys file.
Remember these?

DEVICE=C:\Windows\HIMEM.SYS
DOS=HIGH,UMB
DEVICE=C:\Windows\EMM386.EXE NOEMS
FILES=30
STACKS=0,0
BUFFERS=20
DEVICEHIGH=C:\Windows\COMMAND\ANSI.SYS
DEVICEHIGH=C:\MTMCDAI.SYS /D:123

Those were the days huh?

I'm thinking if I can get Quicktime 2.1.2 installed then I will have the
mTropolis player.

I any of you gurus have any input I would appreciate it.
In the meantime I think I'll try and install it on XP and see what happens.
I expect the same result.

This is the only useful link I've found, there might be others:
http://www.adventuregamers.com/forums/viewthread/2208/

I'd never heard of this game, sounds good :)

Thanks. I have seen that site and it wasn't too much help. I did learn about
VirtualBox which I have never heard of before.

I have made a little progress. However I am still unable to play the game but I
did get Quicktime to install. When I run the game my resolution will change to
640 X 480 but thats all, no game. I'm not sure I want to or can play a game with
that resolution. It looks horrible. I don't remember 640 X 480 looking that bad
in the good ol' days. Perhaps my 24" monitor has something to with it. I'll
still try and tinker with it from time to time.

Obsidian won't go higher than 640x480.
It's going to either look fuzzy or blocky or both.
You won't find as good puzzles in a modern game though.
