I'm pumped about it. I don't know how Andrew found it but now I have to take
care of myself so I'll live long enough to play it. It is expected to be
released mid to late 2015.

I'm enough of a fan to follow Cyan's company forums and some Myst fan
sites.

Then, most of the big gaming news sites picked up the story pretty
quickly.

Which where I noticed it! Read your earlier reply just now. They are
1/3 funded after two days, looks like there's plenty of interest!

It got slashdotted, this certainly helped them a lot!

I was wondering how you found it on Kickstart. I went to their homepage and
tried to find info about it but couldn't locate anything. Once I searched for
Cyan the link you posted turned up. Good work.

Learn something everyday. From http://games.slashdot.org/

vivIsel writes
"Cyan, the company behind Myst, is taking another shot at an game in that vein —
this time in a new game universe, with the Unreal 4 engine. Perhaps
unsurprisingly, they haven't gotten a lot of traction with traditional game
publishers, so they are turning to Kickstarter with a $1.1M total ask. The
Kickstarter video also has some neat shots of the Cyan headquarters — which
looks a bit like one of the buildings on Myst island itself."

Thanks

Like I said, fan forums. I saw a thread on forums.cyan.com that linked
to the KS page, early Thursday. Also mystonline.com/forums,
mystcommunity.com, forum.guildofwriters.org -- none of which I expect
most folks read.

You mean Kickstarter's home page? It showed up pretty quickly under
"Games". (http://www.kickstarter.com/discover/categories/games)
I think it was on the front page for a day, too.

Thanks for the link rms. Looks interesting. I didn't know they were making
a BS4 game and nearing release is good. I always liked Broken sword series,
played them all. I'm a lot older than 28 but who cares? You can be any age
for Broken sword games or any games..

Thanks for the trailer which is quite long and gives you an idea about the
game and the actors. I have mixed feelings about the game after watching the
trailer. The trailer shows a lot of violence with hand guns and machine guns
killing people than say Pandora Directive which had more detective work and
more thinking who to find out who to see next and it is quite comical at
times. I liked the characters on Chandler St. in Pandora D. I see Chelsee is
in the new game, but a lot of new people too. I will have to see when the
game is released and read peoples reviews before getting the game. When is
the game going to be released? maybe I missed that part.

Also I forgot, Jane Jensen has two games in the works, one being the
remake of Gabriel Knight 1, and the other is called Moebius. Lory and
Corey Cole also have a new game in the works, Hero-U Rogue to
Redemption. And there is also an adventure game in the works by Marc
Crowe and Scott Murphy called SpaceVenture.

Did you play Jane Jensen's game "Gray Matter" ? I played the demo but I
wasn't very interested in the story the game was about, so I didn't get the
game. Gray Matter doesn't sound like it had the success of the GK games. A
lot of mixed opinions about it. I wonder why she wanted to do a remake of
Gabriel Knight 2. I thought the GK2 and GK3 were better games, though GK1
was good too.

One game I would have liked to see updated with better graphics is "Realms
of the Haunting". it is adventure/action but the story and challenges are
good. It had some shooting to get rid of enemies, but the enemies just
disappeared when you got rid of them so wasn't very realistic, but was a
challenge to get rid of them and get on with your quest. The focus of the
game was the quest. It would have been a really good game if the graphics
had been updated.I guess it will never be updated.

I found this link below about the remake which had a trailer of the new
remake, but I couldn't get it to play. I only got the interview with Jane
Jensen to play.
http://www.gametrailers.com/side-mission/63162/gabriel-knight-returns-interview-with-jane-jensen

Jane talks about the possibility of a GK4. I would like that if the game was
along the lines of GK2 and 3. Also she said Tim Curry's voice wouldnt be in
the remakr of GK1 because it was 20 years since the original was made and
would cost too much to put his voice back in and he wouldn 't sound the
same - maybe he does sound much the same. a lot of peoples voices don't
change much as they get older, just their looks do, some more than others :)

I don't know anything about Moebius. I would have to look it up. I also
don't know about Space venture, but if its about space, I wouldn't likely be
interested.

SpaceVenture is in the same league as Space Quest, which was one of the
best old comedy adventure series, it is done by the same people who did
the original Sierra Space Quest. They wanted to do another one, but
could not do it due to legal reasons (Activions now owns the rights to
the Space Quest name), so they opted for a new name.

Er, that would be Broken Sword 5 by my count - unless you are purposely
leaving out the 2007 game "The Angel of Death" (UK title), aka "Secrets
of the Ark" (US).

Not that I've played it yet. I'm still stuck somewhere in the middle of
playing BS2 - although I like it, the story progresses so slowly that I
get bored pretty quick...

Hi Matt, haven't seen you posting here for quite a while. Glad to see you
are stil playing adventure games. I still check here to see if any messages
and I post now and then. I played most of the BS games and liked the first
two better I think, but I get mixed up in the order of the name of the
games. I would have to look it up. I think there was one BS game I didn't
play, but can't remember which one. Remember the BS guy from Ireland who
used to post here in the old days. He really liked the BS games which were
earlier games at the time I think.
The new BS game should be out soon by the sounds of it. Also keeping my eye
on the new Tex Murphy game. I saw a trailer of it but doesnt look much like
earlier Tex games. It shouldn't be too long coming out. A new Dreamfall game
will be coming out but not for another year. Kickstarter seems to be popular
and a good way to have gotten these games into production.
