The Humble Indie Bundle V www.humblebundle.com ( The following is lifted from the info on the HB site; some comments and clarification added) Humble Indie Bundle V features five modern masterpieces and their soundtracks. Experience the fear and paranoia of Amnesia: The Dark Descent; the intensity and impact of LIMBO; the zany characters of Psychonauts; the future-retro, audiovisual concoction of Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP; and, for customers who pay more than the average price, the exquisitely crafted action-RPG, Bastion. Each of these games works on Mac, Windows, and Linux, and can be downloaded COMPLETELY DRM-FREE. All these games can additionally be redeemed on Steam if you choose more than $1 contribution --- a set of Steam keys will be provided. Comment: If you have already purchased any of these games on Steam, give the spare key to a friend..... ( WARNING: Stating such an intent may drive our omnipresent friend "Rin S." apoplectic about piracy and Valve not getting their cut... It might have made Rin froth a lot more if I had suggested giving the friend the DRM-free version instead ) Pay what you want. (Ed: Creative Marketing: ON) If you ( insert 'originally') bought all these games and soundtracks separately, it would ( insert 'have') cost around $110. But we are letting you set the price! (Ed: Creative Marketing:OFF) The games work great on Mac, Windows, and Linux (system requirements here). Choose how your purchase is divided: between the developers, the Child's Play Charity, or the Electronic Frontier Foundation. ( For example: If you use the default allocation setting, $4.50 of a $15 purchase will go to charity... you can manually allocate the division between the 2 targeted charities ) And if you like this deal, a tip to Humble Bundle would be much appreciated! How much is this bundle worth to people? Let's take a quick look: ( Snapshot as of 3pm PDT, 31 May ) Total payments: $982,476.05 Purchases #:133,571 Average purchase:$7.36 Average Windows:$6.79 Average Mac:$8.85 Average Linux:$11.33 ( Crossed the $1M mark @ 3:05pm, $1.1M @ 3:48pm. Looks a if it is going to be a very successful release for all concerned...) Offer open for 2 weeks from May 31. ==================================================== John Lewis

But thanks for the shout-out anyway. Good to know my presence is now causing you to form a tactical plan *before* posting anti-Valve rants, as opposed to the messy clean up after-efforts. It was fun to see you squirming and jumping through hoops during those, but I actually prefer the efficiency of this new method better.

It's an incredibly good bundle. Except for Limbo and one more title (Sword and Sorcery?), I own these games already, but it's tempting to the DRM free versions. -- Noman

With ~ 285,000 purchases @ $7.75 average, the 5 developers get roughly $0.75 each per purchase...... $200K each, so far. Not a bad haul for this late in the sales cycle for these titles. John Lewis

I've only got Amnesia: The Dark Descent so seemed silly not to purchase it especially as you can get keys to link them into Steam although Bastion has a single key whereas the other four are under one key.

It's is playable with keyboard and mouse, yes, but the game just did not grab me. It reminds me a lot of Square's SNES title Secret of Mana and its inferior sequel Legend of Mana both in gameplay (action rpg) and art direction but I got bored with it rather quickly. > Superbrothers also looks intriguing, I had never even heard of that game > before. Thanks for the heads up. I bought the bundle mostly for Bastion and Amnesia but Superbrothers Sword and Sorcery is the one I'm enjoying the most by far. The retro graphics look absolutely superb and the music is sublime. The writing and story are also top notch. It is one of the most original games I've played and folks who like the adventure genre will probably enjoy it too as long as they don't mind a little bit of (overly easy and simplistic) fighting along the way. FYI they have added 3 more games to the bundle since I've purchased it two days ago - Braid, Super Meat Boy and Lone Survivor. US$3.7 million raised with close to half a million purchases so far.
