I finally found a fix for my version of The Black Mirror 1 that I
downloaded form The Adventure Shop. I did a quick test and the static
noise and crashing of the computer didn't happen. I didn't get the
fix by talking to The Adventure Shop.

I went to Adventure Gamers web site and in their forums there is a
'Hint Requests and Technical Problems' section. Under that section
was a thread 'The Black Mirror sound issues'. The first post in this
thread was on 12-13-2009 so this problem has been around for a while.
The last post was on 02-26-2011 and it contained the fix. Oh happy
day. Apparently this person bought the retail version and did some
playing around with their Adventure Shop version and found that one of
the six sound files was corrupt. They posted a download link to the
corrected file and it seems to have done the trick.

I'm not sure I'll deal with The Adventure Shop again.
