Can anyone tell me how to get the guy out of jail so he will jion the crew of the ship i bought and so i can sail to Monkey Island?!?!?!?! Thanx- joes...@world.std.com

So when you get to the second stage (on the boat) and you have discovered the misc items here and there and fired the cannon a few times ... what next??? I too am stuck in Monkey Island I : on the boat ... any hints out there? how can you open the rusty trunks in the ship? can you open the window that is stuck? can you climb down the side of the ship? ...
