The object that must be dropped in the well is a coin. I believe the coin
can be found in the caves. Malcom has frozen the entrance to the cave and
you have to complete the Birthstone quest before you get the means to break
the ice. You have to place the birthstones in a certain order on the alter.
The order of the birthstones changes from game to game, but the Sunstone is
always the first.Oh...I just remembered, Did you make the plant grow yet?
You have to collect an acorn, a pinecone, and a walnut. These must be dropped
in the hole in Deadwood Glade (I think that is the name of the place). This
will give you the healing gem for your amulet, which is used to heal a bird
that is wounded. The bird will leave a feather that must be given to Darm.
Then Darm will explain the birthstone quest to you. And only then are you
able to get the Sunstone...(what a complex game or am I just making it sound
complex?)

Later--Rick
