After talking with the Sierra tech person again, I was told that a permenant
patch for GK, QFG4, and PQ4 will be available within 30 days.  Of course these
patches will require you to start all games over as the patch is not compatible
with earlier save games.  From my experiences with Sierra's new 32-bit DOS
extender games, I would recommend that you do not play or buy these game until
the permenant patch is available.  The temporary patches seem only to fix
problems at the beginning of the game, however, there effects totally
disintigrate towards the end.  I have all three of the games, however, I am
only playing QFG4 now; I am near the end and the game is terribly buggy.  
Since savegames are NOT compatible I don't think it is worth it to start
all over again when the perm. match becomes available.  Some of the problems I
have seen are:

1) Slow restores (up to 5 minutes!)
2) Slow fight sequences in QFG4 (up to 10 minutes!)
3) Fatal errors with digitized sound effects (both SB and PAS 16) at some
   parts.

The Sierra tech rep said that these were common problems with ALL of their
32-bit DOS extender games (GK, QFG4, and PQ4).  I am on the list to get all
of the patches for the above games, and I will make them available via FTP when
I receive them.  I have already put the temporary patch for QFG4 on
FTP.CDROM.COM.  If anyone gets these patches before I do, please upload them
and tell us where.  QFG4 seems like it would have been a great game, it is too
bad that all of these problems had to ruin (or nearly so) the work by Lori and
Cory Cole.
