As I poster earlier in another topic I downloaded Portal from Steam. Although I don't quite understand everything about the game I have made it to level 12 on dumb luck. I would classify Portal as a strategy/logic game. No inventory and no clues as far as I can tell. Portal reminded be of an old DOS game I used to play that was also a strategy/logic game, Bolo Adventures by Soleau Software ( http://www.soleau.com/ ). The game needs to run in DOSBox and works quite well. A few changes to the DOSBox configuration file is all that I made but they are not required to run the game. The game has multiple levels but any level can be played at any time. You don't have to complete level 1 in order to play level 2. There is a startup period in learning what will work and what won't and how things move, etc. I downloaded all three Bolo Adventure games from ( http://www.myabandonware.com/ ). They seem to have a whole lot of these old DOS games and they are free. I realize old DOS games aren't for everyone but sometimes they fit the bill, at least for me. One game I couldn't find there was Pipes. They have a Pipes game but it isn't the one I remember. They do have the 1983 Pac-Man game though. For some reason I believe Soleau charges for the games. That seems strange since I can get them elsewhere. Soleau does have DOS looking games that will run on Windows 98, XP, Vista, Win 7. I assume Windows 8 too. DOSBox can be found at ( http://www.dosbox.com/ ). Just click on Downloads and select your OS. I'm not sure if it works on Windows 64 bit though. I just thought I'd throw this out there in case some of you old timers were looking for a nostalgic trip. Take care
