I just installed Quest for Glory IV last night. Having heard the EXCELLENT music in QG3 for the GUS, I was looking forward to a similar experience in its sequel. The first few attempts at starting the game were pretty bad; at first it would collide with QEMM, throwing several of my cards out of whack in the process. I took QEMM out of my CONFIG.SYS and reset the computer. I still had problems. This time the program would print out scads of information on addresses and their contents in hex, and as if that wasn't enough, it was printed in low-res mode on my screen so that it scrolled off and I couldn't see all of it. This time, I tried turning off sound effects with Sierra's install program. Right now, my configuration is such that sound effects have no sound card to be played on, and music is played on the Soundblaster/Adlib board. Now, QG4 seems to be acting normally - I get the opening screen, credits, and even started a new game - except that there is no sound whatsoever, not even music. Very unimpressive. I've got a 486/33, Gravis Ultrasound, a total of 4 megs of RAM, currently no memory manager running. My TSRs comprise mainly the GUS' SoundBlaster emulator and MOUSE.SYS. Does anyone know a fix to this problem? Any help is appreciated... Paul Brinkley brin...@cs.utexas.edu
