Playability first, for me, the Anime-hater.

..boy that does sound like a ST:TNG title, don't it... It seems that people have started hating me for having my opinion (Checkout RE:The dim future of pc gaming...you may find my opinion...). Just because I really don't care for poorly designed games with a hype-namely anime style grafx-I get burnt. ExcuSE ME!!! While few do enjoy graphics, I feel that I should get my $$$'s worth. To me, what makes the game is playability, excitement, then graphics and cinemas. Frankly, I really don't care for games with little playability with a lot of FMVs or Cinemas-The same reason I don't like Rebel Assult, and probably won't care for Rebel Assult ][, though that remains to be seen. I really like games that you can play with a lot of disticnt possibilites. Take Privateer, for example. The CD-Version blows a lot of games away. Why? You don't have to take plot-missions to get going. Instant missions will create your character. Endless fun, IMHO. Civilization and Simcity(sorry for using Strat games.) have a FANATICAL follwing because of it's randomness and challange. DOOM, the granddaddy of all games. Why is it so fun to play? After destorying hell, you can run amuck in your own nitemare or others. ROTT provides RANDROTT and its share of editors. The thing is, even thought these games are being ported into many systems, none of it will be fun as the PC version, primary because it takes away the unlimited fun provided only by the PC (and MAC) version. Just because I happen to prefer RPGs and ACTION games that requires heavy stragety(ABUSE is a great game...), I get flamed...I think I may have started a good thing here, eh? Come on... Would you rather play a game that you can complete in, lets say, less than 100 minutes (most console games provides that much fun...$50-60 wasted on nothing.) or play a game that will last at least twice as long? I'd go for the latter. CMStr. ABUSE is the fabric of our life...(the game)
