Ho-ho-ho! A third of the way through our Holiday give-away! 8 games 16 more games to come! To recap, I'm cleaning out my inventory of extra keys/serial numbers for games which I inadvertantly bought two copies. Having no use for them myself and unable to foist them on friends and family, I'm using c.s.i.p.g.a as a dumping ground all while saying it's in the name of holiday cheer! It's a good thing I'm not in charge of nuclear waste, I'd probably be giving away "glowing" christmas ornaments ;-) It's first come, first serve; whoever uses the key first gets the game while everybody else gets nothing! But let's all pretend to be civilized so if you already have the game, let somebody else have a go at the key. Okay, with that out of the way, let's give away some games! Today's game is: The Commandos Collection ---------------------------------- This collection includes Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines, Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty, Commandos 2 and Commandos 3. Now, you are probably thinking, "Four games? They can't be any good," but that's only because you are an uneducated philistine (but Santa still loves you). While these /are/ older titles, these action-puzzle-strategy games are classics. Lead a squad of very-specifically trained soldiers through beautifully detailed maps to do... well, commando stuff (you know: assassinate, sabotage, blow stuff up, stuff like that). Since it is just your four troops against the whole of the Nazi army, stealth is essential; you need to manage your whole team's skill-set to bribe, sneak, distract or (quietly) murder any opponents. It's a tricky game to master but well worth the effort. Platform: Windows PC Distributor: Steam Key: 2NAMG-IZXQW-IPBV0 Ho-ho-ho! (and I suddenly realize that /this/ is a WW2 game of the sort I lamented not having yesterday...)

I generally like and prefer older titles. Thank you for these.

I've played this one for some hours years ago. You direct the movements
of your men from above, where they go who they target; I guess similar to
xcom games? With the planning element, it's more mentally involving than
the average fps, and has good tension as you wait to see if your moves pan
out. I recall not quite getting over the learning curve of the tactical UI,
and didn't get beyond the first couple missions, but there was good
satisfaction with executing a plan cleanly with all your men uninjured.
This is a nice package! Enjoy it mikeS! (now I feel like checking it out
again myself!)

I certainly hope that I do. :) I enjoyed Jagged Alliance when I played it this summer so if this game really does elements of X-Com in it, I may very well like it.

Commandos 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, I'd strongly suggest you start with that one. The first two (don't ask but yes, there were two games before the second) are also good but very puzzle-y, and the third one is too much like the second but not as much fun for some reason - some of the interface changes didn't sit too well with me and the environments not as interesting. Unlike X-com and JA they are not turn based, but you can take your sweet time to plan and execute your carefully thought out strategy any way you want. It almost feels like playing a WW2 movie in real time, absolutely fantastic stuff. Have fun.
