The reviews seem fairly positive, although most of them seem to be of
the nostalgic "I loved the first one so much!" bent that it's hard to
determine if they are judging this title on its own merits or based
simply on the fact that this game finally gives players a proper
ending (something that was sorely missing from the second game). Those
reviews that do focus on the actual game seem to indicate it is of
middling quality.

Myself, I was rather lukewarm on the original - it was charming but I
didn't think it extraordinary - and very disappointed with the second.
It's largely because of the shadow of the second game that - even
though I bought the series over a year ago - I /still/ haven't played
the third game myself (although I intend to do so... eventually).

I supposed that if you are a big fan of the first game it's probably
worth the price; otherwise, I'd wait until there's a steeper discount
(I got my copy as part of a HumbleBundle deal). I know I've seen it on
Steam and GOG for far cheaper at times.

Yes it is a very good adventure game (not action adventure)
although a little bit heavy on the hardware.
If you have a rather old machine then better stay away from it.
It plays fine on my rig however (4 year old core i5 with an NVidia 970)

The setting and story as usual are phantastic, the puzzles mostly on the
lighter side.

Just to make a comparison, I would rate Dreamfall Chapters together with
Life is Strange (also an excellent adventure game worthwhile to check
out) the best adventure game of 2015/2016.

I don't know anything about the game, but if you're going to buy it, wait
for it to go on sale. Steam should be having their Fall/Thanksgiving
sale in about a week or two and the Christmas/Winter sale will be a
month after that.

I think "charming" sums up my thoughts too on the original, haven't
tried the second yet. I actually thought I had finished the original
back in the 90s but then I went and bought all the chapters in a sale
some time ago and started playing the original again. After a while I
reached a point that didn't seem familiar at all. Also, some of the
puzzles are pretty hard. I guess I kinda forgot to play it after a
while... Shame really. Now that I have a bit more time I think it's time
to finish it. Although Deus Ex is taking up a lot of time.
