Has anybody played it yet? I have resisted buying it so far, mostly because I'm pretty sure I will get it as a Christmas gift. I'm more interested in the re mastered original than I am the new game. Gamespot seems to think it's great. On the flip side, Mack gives his verdict on it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZO7A4n0N0k -- Rob

Nah, the series lost my interest once they went futuristic, not to mention the lack of innovation. At least the older games had immersive/addictive multiplayer. Once a setting goes space ships and laser blasters, it becomes hard to hold my interest except in rare cases. >I have resisted buying it so far, mostly because I'm pretty sure I >will get it as a Christmas gift. I've always found that to be a much better indicator of how good a game is than professional critic reviews. "Mixed" as a consensus on Steam reviews is not at all a good indicator either.

The single-player (which I'm mostly interested in) will likely be too scripted and linear, with a cringe-worthy and bombastic storyline that leaves me feeling dumber for watching it. The multiplayer will be filled with "bros" and foul-mouthed children playing an ultimately pointless competition further marred with hacks and obvious nickle-and-diming by the publisher. I may pick it up if Activision ever deigns to allow the price to fall below the $5 mark but - as with my recent playthrough of Call of Duty Ghosts - I'm sure that I will be disappointed at my purchase even with such a steep discount. (Are you picking up on the fact that I'm not a fan of the franchise? ;-)

Typically not my kind of game but after watching him play for a while it kind of grew on me. I don't plan to buy it any time soon with Battlefield One occupying my gaming time, but it does look like fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUHmdTOM1d8
