Hi,

I have a new, sealed copy of Pitfall, but no CD drive.
My roommate, however has one.  I was wondering if I can copy it to my HD
(through a serial link) and play it off of the HD, without the use of the 
CD ?

If not, its going back.

HELP!

let's try that again:

Copy all of the files in the ASSETS directory to a directory on your
hard drive.

copy Pitfall.exe to Pitfall.bak

Use a hex editor to edit the Pitfall.exe file.

At offset 3BB2, go to Column 7 (begin counting with col. 0)

OR  Search for :
A1 5C ED 46 00 85 C0  75  15 6A 10  68
change to:
B8 01  00  00 00 A3 5C ED 46 00 EB 12

Save.

Enjoy better speed and no pauses.
You don't need the big .avi file anymore, so dump it.

The music is on the CD, but I play with just the sound effects anyway.
