Sorry, loyalists, but the patch has not yet been made available to me. As soon as this happens I will make it available to you. No excuses, just no completed revision. I'm bracing for the flak, but please be gentle. ACTSEARCH

Activision says that the add-ons will be out in mid-fall, but no exact date
as of yet.

Is there an actual project with the MW2 programming team called
"Maintenance & updates"? I work at a software house, and we will
commit a certain percentage of a programmers time to fixing any bugs
or any revisions that need doing.
As there are a number of bugs in the game that will need fixing if you
expect to sell the expansion pack to us, can you tell us that there is
a formal programming project at Activision with the aim of fixing
these products, and if so, what is the timescale for these fixes to be
made available?
I think you need to convince a lot of people (not just the pundits
complaining of the lack of a demo product, but those who have bought
the game and paid for support), that you are infact supporting them
and will be offering fixes in the future, not just running off with
their money.
I know that you are working hard on the network game, but surely time
should be put aside for fixing the joystick problems, and the right
arm bug amongst others. Or are you going to release an eight player
network game where everyone's right arm still falls off and you can't
aim straight?

I think YOU forget just how long this product was in coming. What? 2 years from the ORIGINAL release date? I don't think time is a priority here. Scott Kozicki <SKoz...@BlueStar.net>

Absolutely. Unofficially, MW2 Version 1.1 should be passed off to the Q.A. dept. by the end of this month. This version fixes most (possibly all) problems people have had. Is there going to be a >patch file released, or is Activision going to replace my CD free of >charge? As long as the executable is stored on your HD all the data can be on your CD and still be patched. I have peered into the format of the mw2.prj it is nothing but a concatonation of files with directories and indexes added too it. For what its worth, the PRJ even has DLLs sitting in it. Yes some of the code is in the PRJ not in external DLLs or the EXE. The DORCS screen is an example of one of the DLLs that is sitting in the PRJ. The point of all of this is that if any of the code or data in the PRJ needs to be fixed only the "files" in the PRJ that need to be changed would have to be stored on your harddrive not the whole game. A new EXE could then load the directories and indices into memory and update some of the references to point to the external files. These could even be in a patch PRJ. This of course assumes that Activision does the patch correctly, I'm not holding my breath. I was looking at their file format, considering the possibility of creating an editor to build new missions, mechs, clans, etc. Later, after reading their License Agreement and Copyright, I decided that I would only wind-up in a lawsuit or something. Not worth the time or development effort. This sucks, I would really like to add other mechs and the ability to create missions. But due to the legal ramifications and small size of the installed base at this time, I don't think it would be worth the effort. I think I'll have wait and write a Quake editor. :^(
