Pitfall - Final Boss?!?

*** POSSIBLE SPOILER *** ----- How the hell do I defeat the final boss in Pitfall?!? I've finally made it to the last level and this really DOES feel impossible. Normal stones don't do anything... I only have one or two boomerangs and magic stones. Are you supposed to hit him in a particular spot? They seem to provide you with more normal stones but they don't seem to do anything! Overall Pitfall has been an excellent game... but the frustration level at the end of the some of the levels was way too high. The levels are rather easy to complete, and then you come to the end which is more than a pain. For instance, fighting the Jaguar-Shaman... I had him down to 5% so many times and could have finished him off with one more blow. Yet, when you reach "near death", you end up standing there waiting for him to finish you off. Now the final boss has the power to just grab you and beat you from anywhere!
