Mega Man w/ a single speed CD?

Does anyone happen to know if Mega Man X works w/ a single speed CDrom
drive? On the box it says that it requires a double speed drive.
However, I have played other games which said that they needed a
double speed drive, and (for the most part) they worked OK on my
single speed drive (they slowed down and were choppy every once in a
while, but they worked fine otherwise). I played the demo for Mega
Man X directly off the September PC Gamer CD, and it ran fine except
for the occaisional slowdown. What I'm most worried about is that the
game will have some kind of startup up procedure that checks the speed
of the CDrom drive, and then quits if it finds it to be too slow. Any
help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanx!!
P.S. - Thanks to all the people who responded to my post about the
current price of Mega Man X! I just today found it for $50 at
a different store.

If you can handle slightly slow access times and/or choppy movement in places, it should be OK. However, things like speech or video won't work very well - but if you can stand it, go for it.
