Tyrian as a game in itself ("insert coin") is pretty good.
But there are a few things ...

1)Music :
It reminded me of all of those classic c-64 sid tunes ...

2)Gfx :
Very Nice, very reminiscent of all the old c-64 gold era games and Amiga
games. Jeez It takes a pentium to give out a game that has the same quality
as the one that were available on these old systems.
Alleykat (US title, I dont know the original european title) was way cool,
and as a "hit-the-metal-programmer", its originality was worth ten-fold.

3) game play :
to really make the player sweat, ... please .. no autofire !!!!

4) Xenon 2 :
someone was comparing it to Tyrian and proclaimed that the sound/music
   sucked bg time !!!!
To that Idiot , I will have to say : look at/listen to the Amiga version .
The music and sound f/x are first class. even better than Tyrian.
The tune is not some sid music. And the sound f/x are not recycled sound
samples obtained from some cheapo ftp PD sites. (I am not saying that
Tyrian is, but the way that shithe*d made it sound, It seemed like
     Xenon 2 was crap .... xenon 1 and 2 are masterpieces !!!!)
Let me backtrack a few messages and I will post the names of the fuckers who
said that Xenon 2 sucked !!!! (to come in an upcoming message).

5) more Xenon 2 :
huh ... Xenon 2 has a bomb the bass sound track !!!
    ("Into the dragon" -> MegaBlast).
Ravers may suck ... but you suck even more !!!!
