all win95 games require you to run in 256 color mode, is there a way to run them in true color modes? i have a ATI winturbo card, and using the win95 build-in drivers. -- +--------------------------------------------------------_--------------+ | ## ## ##### ## ## ###### ## I I | | ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ## I~I | | ###### ##### ## ## ## ## ## __ I~I _ _ /~) |

Thats not true for all video cards. You can of course get 32K or 16M colors from Win95 if your drivers support it. I run my ATI GUP mach32 in 16M colors under Win95 all the time. Graphics intensive games don't like > 256 colors because there is so much more data to move around.

You can do 16 million in 95. You just have to have a driver that supports it. I`m running the S3 968 driver in 64K colors right now.

Game are traditionally written to use 256 color for various reasons, and even if you could run Windows in a truecolor mode, you wouldn't want to, beause the game is still written for 256 colors, and using a non-256 color video mode will hurt the game's performance. -- #define REAL_NAME "John Williams" #define E_MAIL "jo...@jove.acs.unt.edu" #define HOMEPAGE "http://www.unt.edu/~johnw"
