First, interesting game. Like several others I've seen here, I played it
through and have a couple observations:

The controls seemed a bit jerky, regardless of the resolution or screen
size. I found this especially frustrating when trying to strafe and
turn at the same time. As well, many times I found myself inadvertantly
moving forward when strafing and turning in combination - seemed like
perhaps there was some mis-placed momentum or something.

The "virtual size" of the player seemed a little larger than necessary,
or at least I often felt like I was running into walls when I didn't
think I should be running into walls.

Allowing customization of the keyboard and mouse controls should be
considered a must for the final game. I found it rather difficult to
get used to the setup. I think I understand the motivation to
use the ctrl key as the master "use" and enter to specify something
in front of you. Unfortunately, this will always require the
user to move their hands from whatever normal position they have
them in. The game has enough action in it to warrant a little more
thought in this area.

Performance of full screen 640x480 graphics was suprisingly slow when
compared with the next smallest screen size. My system is a P90 with
a Stingray 64/Video and ran acceptably (5 to 10 frames per second, I'd
guess) on the next to largest size, but dropped to about 1 frame per
second on the max size. Could this be related to cache size? Will
the engine be any faster in the final version?

The graphics are beautiful, even though limited to 45 degree angles.
I assume that the final game will have more diverse settings for
the landscape. Even so, in 640x480 mode, I walked around just looking
at the dead bodies - they look great!

Overall, I enjoyed it very much and am looking forward to the
full version. Keep up the good work!

John
