id has been putting in satanic imagry since Doom. Quake 2 was "clean" in
this regard. This is the first time you've noticed ?

Anyway, I like how they've added a new color to their Unholy Palette
of Monotony: Red. Maybe by Quake 4 and 5, they'll have started into

Heh -- there is some FPS game like this. You play as an angel and
fight devils and it's built around biblical themes. Pretty cheesey
looking and sells for about $20. And no, I'm not talking Messiah. <g>

well for one thing, child porn is illegal.  as far as I know, satanism
isn't... I doubt the id people actually believe in this stuff anyway,

I don't believe it's put in there to mock Christians as much as it is to
give the game a Satanic style.  I don't think Satan wants to conquer

I won't be buying this game either. I also skipped System Shock2 for
the same reason. I saw some screenshots of a reverse blood spattered
cross from SS2 and I decided that enough was enough. I even sent an
e-mail protesting to Looking Glass (the programmers of SS2), to which
they replied by saying that they didn't mean offense to anyone, and it
was just a gravitational machine turning the whole ship upside down
and something like that. I still didn't buy the game.

I made a Homer-in-his-underwear skin for Quakeworld (a million years
ago).  His face and body fit the original GLQuake model perfectly.  

About a week after I used it for the first time I started seeing them in
just about every game I played.  It was great when a bunch of people
would use it and all have variations on Homer's name.

Personally, I think there's not enough satanic stuff in Quake.  I want to see
things like human sacrifices and bestiality - you could boink the sheep in
Hexen, so why not Quake?  I think Carmack is a wus.  Although being able to
torture the marines in Quake 2 was pretty cool.  Maybe he's not a total wus.

Anyway, I think id should have an evil version and a good version.  The evil
version could be even more gruesome and disturbing while the good version
would be more......... good.  Instead of pentagrams they could have
advertisements for Wal-mart or something.  And in the evil version you would
be able to rip someone's arm off and beat them over the head with it (I've
always wanted to do that).

This would satisfy all the idiots who complain about things like Satanism in a
game that's all about killing.  Oh sorry, not you, the other idiots.

too far.  A religion is a belief.  Being a certain race is not a Belief.

being gay is not a belief either, you are born gay.  I would definitely not
buy a game that was racist or biggoted.  The reason for my post is to show
how hypocritical it is to buy a game that involves extreme violence, and

return it because of satanic immagery.  I believe that violence is part of

Really, how could you tell I am not a Christian?  Maybe because I
said "I am an Athiest, and do not beleive in God."  Do you REALLY
believe that in any Christian religion they would not condone violent
video games?  Do you read the paper?  Have you ever been to
Wal-Mart : ) .  You are making my point for me, Chrisitans believe
that impure thought is a sin, and actually acting out those thoughts in
a video game is morally wrong according to this belief.

I remember when I saw the Barney mod for Doom years ago, I downloaded
it because lots of people seemed to be so amused by it. Naturally, I
didn't get the "joke" at all, because I didn't even know what the heck
is "Barney". There never was that kind of show here (fortunately).

But then, not all seem to be aware of Teletubbies either. Isn't it a
British children program? They show it here where I live, but for

You are missing the whole point of the post.  According to any Christian
that I know the Bible tells them how to act because they relate it to
present
day life, even though the bible was supposely written in most part thousands
of years ago.  THE ONLY point I was trying to make was in remark to
those who said they wont buy Quake 3 because of satanic immagery.  I am
not "barking" at the issue of violence in video games.  I simply made a
comment about how I THOUGHT that people who consider themselves
religious (i.e. Christian) would not play such a game in the first place.
If
you are a Christian who plays these video games and are taking offense to
this comment I am sorry.  I am not defending satanism.  I am not trying to
say anything bad about violence in video games.  I could go into detail and
argue about religion all day but I wont.  This is an action games (i.e.
blood,
exploding heads, huge weapons, multi-kill loving) news group.  Try
advertising that at YOUR church and write back.
