Your SLIP/PPP software > works. Win95 doesn't multitask as well as warp, and neither as well as NT. I won't argue that point: that's just my experience, and others may differ - I don't offer it as fact, only my personal involvements. Even Linux multitasks better than 95 & OS/2. However, the situation is this: this is a games forum more game developers are working on 95 stuff, so that's where it's going. NT is nice, I love it, but let's face it: it's too incompatible with lots of 3.1 software to be worthwhile for many users. Linux doesn't have enough support. IBM never really got behind OS/2's big brother - NeXTStep, which many of us waited for... As far as 95 multitasking - there is one way to prove it - I can format a diskette at the same time I copy a 9 meg file from HD to HD. That is a true show of being able to do two events simultaneously - the disk is getting formatted at the same pace it did before, and the copy suffers no noticeable speed breakdown. 95 doesn't, in any form, have a pretense of multitasking 16bit apps - anyone who claims it does is uninformed. It does however, multitask it's 32 bit apps, and since many are coming out, most people won't notice this quirk. If IBM would only support OS/2 in public commentary better, they wouldn't be in such hot water - when Gerstner made his speech in July, it sent quivers through lots of us who actually use OS/2. OS/2 is a great OS, no doubt about it - but the choice of an OS is up to the individual - no choice is inherently superior to the other. I love certain elements of all of them, and others I don't like. So let's stop bitching about who uses the better OS - if you want to do that, let's talk about running Solaris for the PC on a quad CPU pentium. In the meantime, let's get back to discussing the game development for all platforms.
