One thing to keep in mind is that some of the reviews don't make it
readily apparent that they are playing the Playstation 4 version or
the PC version on less than ultra settings.

The animations are typical Bethesda (clunky as you said) but visually
the game is quite better than some of the reviews have made it out to
be, at least when played on ultra settings on a rig that can deliver
proper smoothness on ultra.

Any "huge world" game is going to have to make lots of tradeoffs.
Player animations has just never been one of Bethesda's strong points.

I'm liking it so far. I suspect hardcore RPG fans who want the modern
Fallout games to be more like the older isometric games will find
plenty to bitch about.

For me it's not a refund candidate, I'll keep it. The question will
be how long it can keep me entertained. I found some of the early
questing in FO:NV to be a lot of fun, but as I got deeper it just
seemed the plot got convoluted, the game itself never became any more
interesting, and it seemed like the designers just ran out of creative
steam.

This has been a fairly common pattern in Bethesda games for me -- fun
at first, but loses my interest and leaves me with little desire to
finish it. I did actually finish FO:NV but doing so felt more like a
chore than a good time. I'm not expecting too much to be different
here but if I get 15+ hours of playtime out of it, it will be money
well spent.

I saw one reviewer that said it didn't really get fun until 30 or so
hours in, so who knows.
