I have done this for an OS/2 demo. You can resize the pictures
(loosing picture sharpness), and I have been able to run 5 at a time
without any video slowdown. The ones that come with OS/2 aren't
great, but there are others out there. At the same time I was
printing from AmiPro/2 and formating a floppy (typical OS/2
propaganda). No real slowdown. I have a 486SX-33 with 16MB of RAM
and a 420MB IDE drive (nothing flashy).

I haven't tried this, I think I will, just for comparison sake :)

Same with OS/2. I agree with the SCSI part. After a while you start
slowing down with IDE. I have seen SCSI in action, and the
improvement is great! I highly recommend it whether you are running
Win95, OS/2, NT, or any other multithreaded OS out there. I have done
quite a bit of multimedia with Warp, and I have not noticed any of the
slowness you have. My assumption is that you have 8MB of RAM. In my
opinion, that is too little for MMOS/2, way too little (I don't care
what IBM claims, it is too little). It may be that Win95 does a
better job of multimedia at 8MB. As I said, I will definately have to
try it and see. I do know that there are a few things that OS/2 does
better than Win95 at 8MB, and visa versa. From what I have seen, I
recommend 16MB for both. But, in all honesty, if I had an 8MB
machine, I would seriously consider Win95. At 16, I think OS/2 is
better. Its your decision.
