Oh I'd never do that. I respect the guys at id too much. (Though I liked GK).
id has to be one of my favorite computer companies. I never REALLY liked
Sierra, their early games were nice but none of them really interested me
(but my opinion doesn't matter much because those King's Quest, Police Quest,
and Hero's Quest games certainly aren't gathering dust in a warehouse). And
after Outpost I think they and alot of other companies have learned a lesson.
I'm not sure what happenned to this game but from the press it got... It's
almost unbelievable such a popular game designer would release this. I also
USED to like Origin. Any game coming before System Shock RULED as far as I'm
concerned. System Shock was completely awesome enough for me to get halfway
through it at 1 FPS. But the rest of their games won't run on my machine. I'm
not saying this was WRONG of them, that would be selfish. But I wish they
could have done it a little slower. I already bought a new computerjust for
Ultima 7 when it came out. Now another for Wing Commander? ARGH. Once I do
though I'm going to grab alotof their games because I haven't played one I
didn't like (and by that time the price will be about 5 bucks for an origin
collection in the bargain bin. WOOHOO). As far as id goes. They take their
no-shit attitude that they put it in the games and apply it to whining
consumers. haha. They'll NEVER release a game before they fell it's finished
and playable. (So when Quake is delayed 'till Christmas of '96 don't be too
mad!) But the game company that gets MY vote for best isLucasArts. Sure,
their adventure games are shorter then most, but they're alot more fun and
alot less tedious then most others.I'd rather play a game 4 hours a day for
2-3 days and have alot of fun then spend 4 hours a day for 30-40 days and
have a crappy time. And I really liked their Space Combat Simulator games.
I've pretty much liked every LucasArts game I played from Zak McKraken to TIE
Fighter (Full Throttle was fun until my 6 megs caught up with me a little too
early in the game). And I haven't seen many other complaints about their
games either (thouigh some) and the ones I did see were nitpicking. Westwood
also has been coming out with winners, C&C being their, though delayed, most
recent win (maybe it being delayed made it so good). Anyways. Just ramblings.
If you got this far you're probably pretty bored. These are only opinions.
