BUNGIE DOUBLE UP FOR HALO 3

Staff doubles to push Xenon's flagship title

13:34 US based newspaper the Seattle Post-Intelligencer has claimed that
Microsoft are prepared to hurl people at the problem by doubling the amount
of Bungie staffers dedicated to producing the eagerly anticipated but
thoroughly unannounced Halo 3.
With Halo 3 almost a cert to spearhead Xbox Xenon's push for next-gen
domination, it would seem Microsoft is prepared to pull out all the stops to
ensure that Halo 3 not only happens but appears as soon as possible after
Xenon's launch, which we're currently pegging for the latter end of this
year.

Chief XNA Architect and long-time Xbox guru J Allard revealed: "Making a
game is getting to be more and more like making a movie. You need to hire
more artists, more animators and more musicians."

No kidding, but there's a time imperative too for MS here, as Halo 3 is the
one title absolutely guaranteed to shift units of the Xenon. With Halo 2
appearing in November last year, that would give Bungie 12 months of
development time on Halo 3 if work started the moment Halo 2 finished.
However, more likely in our book is that work on Halo 3 will have started
much earlier, possibly by a secret Bungie black ops group and MS could
surprise us all by making it a Xenon launch title. This doubling of staff
could be just what Bungie needs to make it happen by Xenon's currently
projected November release date.

All the most rampant of speculation on our part of course, but speculation
informed by years of MS watching and really they don't tend to do these
things by half.

Allard also went on to confirm that more than 65 people produced Bungie's
magnum opus Halo 2, which would mean Halo 3 will consume a staff of at least
130.

One thing seems certain, the Master Chief cometh again and he's heading for
Xenon.
