Oh boy you should try the Bard's Tale 2 to see this feature at its
absolute worst! In one of the game's castles, you end up in an area
with spinners, darkness squares, and spell fizzle squares all at the
same time. It was at that exact moment that I said, fuck this, I am
done with Bard's Tale 2. When I told Ross in my other post that this
game had way too much of this crap, I wasn't joking. No other old
school RPG I have ever played hit me with all of those negative
conditions at the same damn time.

I like mapping out games myself. I tried using someone else's maps
once when I was replaying Eye of the Beholder. I wasn't enjoying it.
These days, however, I use software. But I have no problems using the
in-game automap if it does not suck. I just don't like using someone
else's already completed map that I found online.
