Both times I played Ultima VII I couldn't finish it because I made
the mistake of flying over the final dungeon in the magic carpet which
triggered locking a door that was supposed to lock you in the dungeon.

Which brings up my big problem with the game, by using one scale for
everything they made the world feel ridiculously small. In Ultima IV
and V travelling from one city to another in Britania was an adventure
itself, in Ultima VII (and to a lesser extent Ultima VI) travelling
to neighbouring city was like crossing the street. At least Ultima VI
didn't cram the dungeons on the same map as everything else.

I've never gotten far X-Wing Alliance though it's more just because I'm
not that good at the X-Wing games. I always reach a point where some
mission just becomes too difficult. There was one mission during the
prologue where you're piloting that star-freighter that I had a lot of
problems with as I recall.
