The Game Mode mentioned here is probably the most interesting feature
of the creators update, for purposes of this NG, at least:

http://www.pcgamer.com/10-windows-10-creators-update-features-we-like/

I would not expect the new game mode would have a direct impact on
benchmark numbers, but I would suspect this type of feature will
benefit games in a number of ways:

1. Eliminating isolates cases of subtle but noticable performance
problems, like occasional stutters / delays or resource related
anomalies. Things that tend not to show up in repeatable benchmarks
but diminish the gaming experience during actual play.

2. Will improve gaming experience on low to mid range PCs or laptops
or PCs with less than 6-8 physical cores that feature heavy CPU
utilization (GTA type games, etc).

3. Will benefit those who don't have a dedicated gaming rig (i.e.
also use their PC to run productivity software), thus have lots of
extra processes running.

4. Helps make full use of the hardware advantages PCs have over
consoles, by removing the console advantage of not having lots of
general purpose OS processes in the way of gaming. This might seem
like MS throwing their own baby out with the bathwater, since it puts
a dent in the Xbox as well as the PS4, but Windows10 is a more
important platform to them overall, so its a good move overall for
them.

5. Hammers even more nails further into the coffin of Linux and MacOS
as gaming platforms.

Overall I expect it to be an under-appreciated feature. Features that
do not look sexy on paper (like being able to say your frames per sec
increased from 40 to 90), and that vary from game to game tend to add
a lot, but without the wow factor. Users take notice when there is a
problem, but rarely acknowledge removal of same problem.

An example is first couple of days of ownership of a G-SYNC monitor.
You fire up a few games that you used to have issues with tearing, or
stuttering in, and you notice they are smooth as melted butter, and
the purchase seems worthwhile. Two months later, you forget the
technology is even there, because all of your games just work without
video issues, and you forget the decades of hassle you delt with
before very quickly, to the point of taking the technology for
granted.

I expect Game Mode will be the same sort of improvement, utilized
fully but not really appreciated.
