You are not the only one. While the upgraded graphics were nice, the age of the engine meant that Revisions improvements were largely "putting lipstick on a pig"; even updated, it didn't make Deus Ex into a pretty game. But most of us aren't replaying a 2001 game because of its graphics anyway. Its updated level designs make for more realistic looking maps, but they are far less fun to play in; the flow and direction of the gameplay is greatly worsened by the changes. There's also a host of little niggling gameplay changes - none individually that serious - that together make the game feel less polished too. It is obvious that DE:R was made by a bunch of fans who absolutely love this game. Some of them are very talented coders and artists. But they are not very good in the DESIGN of games, and their changes - well intentioned as they are - make the update an inferior copy of the original.
