I never played the original Talisman board game back in the the day,
but I don't think I would enjoy it as much as playing on the PC.
It's much faster on the computer, played in person it would become
more tedious.

Also, I think it's still a fairly popular game, so I'm not sure how
much the PC port is actually trying to cash in on people like us who
were first exposed to it "back in the day".

I played that game a few times.  I had friend that was big fan of it.
It's a good game, but these days I'd rather give Shogun: Total War a try.
