It's odd, I remember thinking "combat sucks in Deus Ex" and then I started another game and had little issues murdering almost everyone in the intro level. Maybe my "mousemanship" had gotten better in the meantime :) OTOH, I do remember how tedious the beginning is. The weird WTF intro animation and the character creation bit (I've always hated that). The combat/sneaking intro was OK but I think the sneaking part was a little hard and tedious again. > Personally, I didn't really start having > fun with the game until Area 51, and that's like 90% into the game... That's pretty late. I guess I was impressed already when I got scolded for going in the ladies' room in the UNATCO base. I also realized I could've done the level in many different ways. Just no idea how much choice there was... I think I started liking it at when I got to Hong Kong which was right around the 1/3 point of the game. Before that it was just kinda OK but after that I was hooked. And even then I missed most of the weird side quests early on. I did maybe two playthroughs initially and then went back years later to see all the stuff I missed and try playing it in different ways and getting to the cut content. Well, I got it on Steam now that it was cheap. I hope I can find the time and energy to play it once more...
