This board is around $1000+ >so it makes you wonder why you need the S3-968 chip on it. ELSA and SPEA make GLINT 300SX + S3-968 boards. These boards are accelerators for CAD applications. The 968 is used for ELSA & SPEA's existing 2D drivers and the GLINT 300SX is used for 3D acceleration. ELSA and SPEA have invested lots of man-years in their 968 drivers for AutoCAD, MicroStation etc and want to offer their custoners a graphics board with the existing 2D drivers plus 3D acceleration provided by GLINT. The only graphics processor on the 3D Blaster is a GLINT based chip and, as far as I'm aware, there's no S3 chip on the Edge board.
