Gees. I've played a lot of console RPGs and they NEVER involved me in quite like the Ultima series. I guess all it comes down is to personal preference. However, it was games like Bard's Tale, Ultima, and Wizardry that spawned the CRPG industry. Most 3d-RPGs are descendents of Bard's Tale and Wizardry series, while overhead games, like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest(Dragon Warrior. Same difference.), are descendents of Ultima series--one exception I guess is Ultima V. No matter what, It was through PCs that the whole CRPGs became popular. CMStr. BTW, apologies if I've offended anyone and everyone. I seem to do that once in a while.
