riku's recent post about re-playing games got me to thinking about
gaming style, especially when it comes to action games. 

When you play games like Far Cry, Crysis, Half Life, STALKER, and so
forth ... do you play from start to finish, carrying on from your last
save, or do you replay chapters/segments to try and do better? 

When I first play I am exploring and just blast my way through until I
get to a major plot change or new chapter. Instead of just starting
there I seem to have the bad habit of immediately starting over again to
see if I can do that last part better, use less ammo (or make sure to
find all available ammo), be more stealthy, etc. 

For whatever reason, I've noticed that I actually seem to do better on
my first ever runs when I have no idea what to expect and just go for
it. Maybe I over-think when I am trying to get the perfect run.
Eventually I do improve but my approach does slow my overall game
progress. Instead of just playing chapter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, etc. to
the end I tend to play 1, 2, 1, 2, 2, 1, 2, 3, 2, 3, 2, 3, 4, etc. 

How about you all. Do you just go for it or do you seek perfection?
