FTB CD ROM PROBLEM

I just got Fade To Black on CD ROM from EA and the intro runs smooth up to a
point and then the voices become choppy. I've got a DX4/120, 16M RAM, 4X
Plextor CD, Gravis Ultrasound ACE, PAS16, and plenty of Conv. Mem (615K), so
what could be the problem? Mechwarrior 2 Intro runs smooth on my machine and
we all know how choppy that can be without the proper config. I just want to
be able to understand what the people are saying during the cut scenes. Could
this be a problem that needs patching?

Finally, what's the best controls to use in this game? I have a gamepad,
joystick, mouse, etc but they all seem to be a pain in the rear to control.
THis was something I noticed on the demo also.

Thanks!
