In article <43m7tc$o...@cville-srv.wam.umd.edu>, nite...@wam.umd.edu says... > >I would love to see a DOOM 3 based on the Quake engine :) I hope iD >doesn't pass up an opportunity to do this or have someone else do this >someday - DOOM is a gaming household word now :) I think the Doom genre is just far more interesting than any of the others. Perhaps it is because one can relate to the weapons more. We gave Heretic a try for multi-player games... it was fun for a while, but there was just no comparison to running around with a shotgun or rocket launcher :) I would be satisfied right now with a version of Doom that was upgraded to the Heretic (or Hexen) engine. With all the environmental sounds (splashing water etc), and perhaps a fuel-powered jetpack... it would be fantastic. It would also be nice if your characters could reflect what weapon they were currently carrying. I read in some computer gaming magazine that ID has no plans, and in fact didn't want to create a Doom III. The article was regarding Quake, after a visit by the author to ID Software. I'm really looking forward to Quake, but I'm still not too keen on the fantasy setting (I love fantasy games, just not when it comes to first-person action games). -- Emilio Galasso University of Toronto: Computer Science eg...@msi.net bo...@torfree.net
