Doom2 can't even run Doom1 WADs without modifications Yes it can. All that matters is the IWAD file. If the doom excutable sees that you're using the DOOM1.WAD IWAD file, it'll know you have the shareware version, if you have DOOM.WAD, you have the registered Doom, if you have doom2.wad, it knows you have Doom II. This is true on all platforms (DOS, linux, os/2, etc). It can easily be verified by viewing the doom executable with a hex viewer. As far as Heretic goes, I'm not sure. It may be that the Heretic executable is updated to allow you to run doom/doom2/heretic wads, but the Doom executable will not run heretic wads (the DOS version that I have, at least). /---------------------------------------------------------------------------\ | Jonathan Grande, TEAM OS/2 | "No!
