"Aaron" has brought up some good points, even with his irrational use of arguments to relay them. In reading through this amazingly long thread (filled with GOOD points as well as idiotic arguments about religion and the such), I tried to put myself into the mind of Origin's marketers and designers. The only thing I could come up with as to why the would wantto produce only for the next in line processors is because the people who buy theses systems probably have a lot of free money... Of course, this is IMHO, and only what I think of as a possible reason. I thikn Origin could takea page from ID's product development crew... Howmany times have I read that the engine for quake is finished, "we are just trying to design a story around it". This is what I feel makes a good game, even though QUake may be in a different Gendre than a true RPG, it is worth pointing out that they designed an engine with the best capabilities/average machine and then designed a plot for it. Maybe this is a trend which more companies should follow to eliminate lousy games. What I feel this does is allows the designers /programmers to concentrate on developing an efficient graphics engine and have no concerns about what it will be used for. The only concern is to get it efficient enough to run on MOST computers. Of course, I must say that I haven't really played any origin games since I packed away my c64 (may that beautiful machine Rest in Peace!), I am myself very happy with my dx2/66 currently, and will not upgrade for probably another year. But I do see, however, more games becoming "choppy" on my system, it just isn't frustrating to the point where I'll do anything about it... (well, I'm a student, so I have no money to do anything about it yet anyways heheh). Usually when something like this thread appears, there is at least one person from the company there to defend the company's actions... But not a word from Origin. Could it be they've become immune to this type of complaining due to the sheer volume of it? It'll be their Origin's loss if it is. J.P.
