First of all, YES you're right at the moment the consoles have the
edge.

But then for the last decade there has been a constant battle between
PC's and consoles.

In the 80's we had CGA graphics which was good until the NES came out,
we upped the stakes with EGA, then came the Megadrive and SNES, we
upped the stakes with VGA.

Now the PC is at the same stage again, the PSX and Saturn outclass any
PC currently available for gaming.

So what !!!

In a couple of months we will see a new graphics standard emerging,
with onboard polygon handling. I know there are several available but
the one I've heard most about is the GLINT chip, which Microprose
Formula 1 Grand Prix 2 and TFX2000 make use of.

The one constant thing is that over the years the PC is still a great
platform, how many people still want a NES.

It also depends on your interests my favourite games over the last two
years have had nothing to rival them from the consoles, games like :
Tie Fighter and X-Wing, Doom (until recently), Master of Magic,
Civilization, F1GP, Indy Car racing, Sim City 2000.

And what have we got in the pipeline : Command and conquer, F1GP2,
QUAKE, Lands of Lore 2.

Long Live the PC.

(Mind you if you've got the cash, a PSX would be nice as well ;) )
