The documentation for the demo is lousy, IMHO. Basically what you have to do
is this:

Mana starts off as neutral (gold). In order for you to use it, you have to
convert it to your colour (silver). You do this by firing a possession spell
at it, that's the one which looks like a blue and white star.

Once you have mana converted to your colour, your balloon comes out from your
castle and will pick it up and store it in your castle. This lets you have
more spells at once.

Once your castle starts filling up (you can see how full it is by the white
bar on the left side of the status bar), you should cast another castle spell,
to make it able to hold more.

I find it useful to assign the possession spell to my right mouse button;
that way I can kill something and possess the mana before it hits the ground.

A couple of tips for the first stage :
Don't go through the portal until you have quite a bit of mana. (there are
dragons)
If you accidentally let the skeletons out by picking up the spell sitting
in the stonehenge in the town, kill them quickly, or else they will cluster
around your castle and pummel it to death.

On the second stage, try not to build your castle too close to water or the
krakens will blow it up with lightning. Also, it _is_ possible to kill the
genie, you just have to hit him with a lot of damage at once (I find meteors
works well, four of them)

Especially, don't miss out on the meteor spell on level two, it is quite
spectacular : BFRock. (this is my favourite weapon on any game I have _ever_
seen)

Have fun, and get the full version! You'll love it.
