problems running Savage Warriors

I'm having problems running Savage Warrior on a common P90 setup.
I've not had any compatibility problems running any other of dozens of
games, but with S.W., it bombs when I set the sound and/or set the
detail settings on high.

The manual recommends 580k conventional memory to run it, which
I suspect may be my problem, even though I'm running it with 590k
free.

Also, if anyone has any tips on running it with Win95, I'd appreciate
it. It is _very_ jerky running it with the default dos setup
(and with idle sensitivity at minimum).
