In article <42uja9$d...@news.global1.net>, lem...@globalone.net says... >>From what I saw on C|Net yesterday, it looks like Win95 people have problems >with getting on the internet unless they buy Microsofts internet package. >Maybe that's why they are so silent.I tell you it's a damn conspiracy. > >>: > Just wondering how everyone likes or dislikes their Games running through >>: >Windows 95? Any problems to report? Apparently it is not so straight forward to set your system up for CSLIP connections. I'm connected via PPP through Windows 95 and I have had no problems at all running any sort of Internet software... in fact it is great being able to run the NT versions of most packages (they multitask a hell of a lot better than their 16-bit counterparts). I currently run FTP32 (NT Version), WinVN NT, Eudora, Win95 Telnet... all of which run perfectly. As for games... I don't normally play games while in the GUI environment though I've had little trouble those times that I have. All of my games have run from a DOS v7.0 DOS prompt, and I'd say that just about all the games I've run under the GUI environment continue to run (though I must admit that I haven't tested it extensively -- why burden your games by running them under a GUI?). I find that loading games takes a lot longer while under the GUI environment, though there is little or no change in the playing speed of the game (running on a DX2/66 and a DX4/100). I used to multitask X-Wing CD and Procomm v2.11 all the time... no loss in CPS rates at 14.4k and the game played like it did in DOS. It was fantastic... I did have troubles when doing 28.8k (or higher) transfers. Too many interrupts causes overrun errors and choppy game play. -- Emilio Galasso University of Toronto: Computer Science eg...@msi.net bo...@torfree.net
