I fired up two simultanious sessions of Doom on the Windows 95 (June beta
release) demo machine at Computer City (An Acer P-90 with 16MB) while also
having the CD player and Control Panel open. I was able to switch between
them nearly instantaneously by using Alt-Tab. They were even different
episodes of Doom (one was Knee-Deep in the Dead, while the other was The
Shores of Hell) and there was no slow-down of gameplay. Pretty impressive
to me. However, it wouldn't let me run Doom from a shortcut on the
desktop. (I got "machine in indeterminate state" messages from Doom when
it tried to start.) Can anybody here think of a reason why? And which
version of Windows 95 did you try with MS Flight Simulator?
